In My Own Words:
I enjoy reading new SF writers and where the writing merits it I like to encourage others to read what's kept me absorbed on my Kindle.

I enjoyed this book on the whole, however, I did feel that it was rather clichéd in the manner of portraying service pilots (not sure that I used to speak like that all the time), in the way that female pilots look in their flight suits, and the sudden introduction to the reptilian aliens coming to conquer Earth (names such as Scythe).

Anyway, for a quick read it was good - erring on the positive and giving 4 stars.
Deathworld (Wildside Edition) by Harry Harrison
Deathworld (Wildside Edition) by Harry Harrison
I first read this book years ago (before microprocessors, mobile phones etc) when colour TVs had just come out. The book then was a fantastic read, well crafted with good characters and writing. It is all still relevant today and comes over with just as much imagination and flair. The only item out of date now is the use of 'tapes' - but for me that highlights just how creative and imaginative Harry Harrison was/is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun light reading, 3 May 2011
This is a quick and light read, with the majority of the book centred on the developing relationship of the two main characters around Mount Ararat. Little space was given as to how a weapon of mass destruction could be obtained so easily!

If you want an easy beach read then this will fit the bill.
