I grabbed this because it had good reviews and was free... and so should you because there's no catch!

The first novella in a series of progressively longer stories, this is good, quick, unpredictable storytelling of the best kind, reminiscent in many ways of the Walking Dead game series.

Another few hours into the campaign and actually the worse bits (graphics, AI, level design, graphics, gameplay, story and graphics etc.) start to overcome the good bits (atmosphere, pulse rifle and SFX). The graphics genuinely are 5 years out of date with blocky character faces and pixelating wall textures - whilst the heavy use of unlit areas starts to seem like a shortcut rather than atmospheric... The aliens are scary for the first couple of hours but then you realise their AI is a bit sucky too and they seem to get chucked at you arbitrarily to make a level tough - the level design is lazy and samey - although they have obviously painstakingly created the locations… Read more
The Dead Tracks: David Raker Novel #2 by Tim Weaver
I picked this up when it was a daily 99p offer and three days later I've finished it. An English Harlan Coven isn't an unkind comparison I think, and certainly I found myself sucked into this macabre story in a way I haven't been for ages. Good characterization, nicely paced, realistically set in modern Britain. Highly recommended.
