I have recently decided to catch up on some books that I have never read... but should. The Great Gatsby was high on my list.

However, it is not until a basement wall collapses after heavy rain and the contents of les Innocents begins to spill into peoples' homes that the King decides something must be done. A young engineer, Jean-Baptiste Baratte, from rural Normandy is summoned to the Palace at Versailles and is handed the task- to destroy the cemetery and church of les Innocents.

Baratte is given lodgings with the Monnard family, whose house overlooks the offending cemetery. The family… Read more
