5.0 out of 5 stars A woman's view of 1066, 28 Jun 2013
We all know the story of 1066 and all that, but it is always something acted out by men. Weren't there any women involved? Surely there were. What about the woman who searched the battlefield for Harold's body? Who were the women on the Bayeaux Tapestry?
Well here they are, and in particular Harold's customary wife, set aside for a dynastic marriage. Here too are the sights and sounds of the Anglo-Saxon court and the country estate described by an expert in early Medieval studies.. If you would like a new take on an old story read the Handfasted Wife.

This book gives a first hand account of privateering as it really was in the early 18th century. Highly readable.

A hard-bitten crime novel that takes us through the London underworld of organised crime, spiced with espionage. I hope that this is the first of a series.
