5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful: a must have, 10 Sep 2012
Tony Cuffe, sadly missed in 2001, only 47 yo, was one of most influential and beautiful voices of british folk revival scene, between Seventies and Nineteens. Previously member of several seminal bands as Jock Tamson's Bairns, Alba and Ossian, and then active as soloist, he wrote some of the most suggestives pages of Scottish music of last decades.
Gifted of a very peculiar and suggestive voice, he was also a very skilled musician, playing any sort of plectrum.
This 1988 album is his own masterpiece, containg a summa of his art: an harvest of ballads, alternate with instrumentals, all of them feeds with the purest Scottish humors. Difficult, very difficult pick up the bests… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a miracle!, 1 Nov 2011
Unbelievable. The BEAUTY of this 'new' sound is just a miracle. Lots of harmonies and instruments never hearded before, that give at the opus a new and more complex dimension; and a sense of richness in sound amazing to hear it. Listen to the fullness & great precision of the line basses, or the authority & majesty of electric guitars; and even the naturalness of voices & acoustic instruments... The depth of musical scene is amazing: I really don't believe that 40 years old tapes can sounds in this way.
And great choise in extras: the whole 4th LIVING IN THE PAST side, recorded in same sessions or five months later, plus VERY interesting alternate takes and first versions (MY GOD in… Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Super hype, 29 Sep 2011
I really wonder that so much listeners finds such amazing improvement in sounds in this new edition. I own a very good stereo (Meridian G08 cd player, Bel Canto preamplifier, 2 Linn LK85 power amplifier in bi-amping connection, Linn Ninka loudspeakers in active configuration, Stax Lambda electrostatic earspeakers) and frankly this 'new' remastering sound exactly the same to previous '90 remastering. My opinion? Maybe, but please read the most valuable opinion to DSOTM Experience Edition, done by Mr.Blackwell, that report the same impression... Then, everyone feel that want they believe. I suppose that spend lots of money means that the sound SHOULD be better.
Anyway. The packaging is… Read more
