For some time I have functioned under the misguided impression that a combination of post work laziness and a chronic lack of money are not conducive to good cooking. I therefore resigned myself to the banality of the standard midweek meal as I had experienced it as a student, namely generic, uninspiring and repetitive, if easy food.
