2.0 out of 5 stars DID NOT BLOOM FOR ME, 27 July 2014
I did not enjoy this film, not sure if I had a dodgy disc but the sound quality was not good, or the actors involved do not have good diction, a complaint I note that others have made. The story line is another love story with drugs playing a central role, this time one of the leads is dealing, and gets attracted to a client, always a mistake and splits from his lover. Throw in a mugging, stabbing, assault and theft, the film has almost everything. What for me it did not have is pathos for either of the two leads and by the end I could not give a jot if they did or did not get back together.
For the first hour I thought I had a feeling where the film may be going, but the derailment left me wondering if the rest of the film had been made up on the hoof. Mr Lockhart's acting had improved since his previous film but he still lacks the ability to make you believe in the character he is playing. Mr Moretti had more going for him in the acting field, but his direction did leave me wondering if he knew what he really wanted, or was doing the best he could with his shoe string budget. Not a film I can recommend.
Turtle Hill, Brooklyn
A film that made one look back in time to ones own life at the same age as the central characters of Will and Mateo, who are busy organising Wills 30th Birthday party and the issues, secrets that both have and are exposed and how they handle them. The film was well scripted, acted by the diverse cast of gay / straight friends neighbours. The sleeve containing the disc quoted a run time of 93 minutes but in reality it ran for 73 minutes. May not appeal to everyone but I enjoyed it.
