This is a very beautiful record. Steve Knightley was totally inspired to get this off the ground. The poems, always tremendously powerful, are beautifully read by Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton; what voices they both have. The second CD of songs is fantastic. Steve Knightley has never sung better. The version of the Gamekeeper which opens this disc is merged with several other songs and voices and is a total aural delight. The whole disc is top rate production with some great Knightley songs- Goodbye till the next time being a highlight. The version of The Lads in their hundreds, finishing with Imelda's words is light years more powerful than the George Butterworth version. For me Requiem… Read more

This is a great track from the forthcoming CD. Instantly memorable. Show of Hands at their best. The double CD of songs and poems inspired by the First World War is released on 30th June. Order it now- from what I've heard of it it's not to be missed.
