The Unusual Lives of Kat Hammond by Joy Luck
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Luck!, 11 July 2014
Without spoiling too much, this was a book full of twists and emotions. A mixture of romance, crime, fantasy resulting in a book that kept my attention right to the end. Just when I thought it was going to be a pure romantic novel (with a fantasy thread) Joy leapt into a grittier murder mystery which changed the whole book into something more exciting for me. A lovely gentle book that hopefully is the start of more writing for the author, as I'm impressed with it as a debut.

I feel that Kat's story is not ended and I'd like to see maybe 6 more adventures ;o)

When Dan Lived in the Woods by Ben Wakeling

A nice little story that taps into every man's secret desire to run away from it all and live in the woods pretending to be Bear Grylls. It was so easy to imagine why Dan did what he did and I enjoyed seeing how he would survive better than me. I did wish the book was longer as I loved Dan's attempts to build a shelter and survive in the wilds of what was basically his back garden ;o) I'd liked to have seen how long he could hide but the ending left me with a warm fuzzy feeling that may have been obvious but I didn't want anything else. A quick summer read to add to your Kindle that may make you smile...and want to escape!
The Surrogate (Brennan and Esposito Book 1) by Tania Carver
I have been a fan of Martyn Waites for a while but didn't know of his alter ego Tania with his wife. Another story that repulses with its darkness but hooks you from the first page.
