I thought this was a terrific read. Of course, I have a vested interest, I am also a step mother to a girl (albeit now a woman and a mother in her own right). When she was sixteen she told her father she needed a new bra for an event in MY family and insisted he come with her to choose and pay for it. Which of course he did, the fool. And she paraded herself in the bra outside the changing room, while he didn't know where to look.
Good book, like everything Fay Weldon writes.
