Iris Bromige An Appreciation by Shirley Brealey
Iris Bromige An Appreciation by Shirley Brealey
You should only expect what you've paid for here. I'm an Iris Bromige fan and collector of her books, and found this a very basic 'appreciation'. The online Iris Bromige website is far more informative. Some of the novels in the appreciation were covered in detail, but it was also obvious that the author hadn't read some of the novels recently and others not at all. I felt that by the end of the work, she just wanted to get it all over and done with, and the work was rushed.
Chocolate Wishes by Trisha Ashley
Chocolate Wishes by Trisha Ashley
As an avid Trisha Ashley fan, I'm a bit concerned that Trisha seems to be adopting a Christina Jones style in this book what with love potions, incantations and witch charms, as well as names like Sticklepond and Grumps! Please, please Trisha don't stray into the land of magic make-believe! I love your wacky characters and their humour; part of their attraction is that they are believable.
Chocolate Wishes was a nice story - shades of Good Husband Material perhaps, although I loved Fergal much more than Raffy! I'm looking forward to the re-work of Sweet Nothings coming out I think in the autumn.
Paris Imperfect by Susie Vereker
Paris Imperfect by Susie Vereker
Another superb book from Susie Vereker! Having enjoyed both An Old Fashioned Arrangement and Pond Lane & Paris, Paris Imperfect certainly didn't disappoint. Good, clear writing, humour and real, believable characters in what is essentially a romantic comedy. Highly recommended!
