Shame [DVD] DVD ~ Michael Fassbender
Shame [DVD] DVD ~ Michael Fassbender
3.0 out of 5 stars Bleak..., 19 Oct 2012
I have to say that I struggled with this film. I am not a fan of this kind of bleak and harsh vignette where the story itself is buried beneath the performances and the 'shock factor' of the subject matter. This is one of those films where the viewer is invited to create some kind of internal commentary as a good deal of what goes on is really inside the characters' heads. Fassbender, as always, gives a mighty performance, almost like Patrick Bateman without the sociopathically violent tendencies, but he is just as absent, just as shallow, just as superficial as a human being. Hard Candy [DVD] DVD ~ Patrick Wilson
Hard Candy [DVD] DVD ~ Patrick Wilson
5.0 out of 5 stars Brutal and brilliant!, 16 Oct 2012
A searing performance from both Page and Wilson. Brilliantly scripted. A real edge-of-the-seat thriller, and thoroughly enjoyable despite the very dark subject matter! Definitely one to be watched again.
