As a student, I have been to a poetry day where Simon Armitage himself came to discuss his poetry with us. The most fascinating thing that he revealed to us about this book, was the idea behind the title - as a young person himself, he would often play a party game with him friends to meet new people which consisted of striking a match and holding it until it burnt to your fingers. In this time, the person holding the match would have to tell their life story in the seconds it took the flame to reach their hand, until they had to blow it out. This also explains the asterisk marking the start of his poems - it is meant to represent the newly struck flame. This book is genius, so well thought… Read more

I bought this game for my 13th birthday - it has been an amazing descovery that made my sister buy it so that she could chat to me on wifi and make her own town. Now, nearly a year on, I am still playing it, and am finding new elements to it all the time! new bugs, new furniture, FREQUENTLY new people, while getting old animal friends to stay put at the same time. Onced you have spent enough money at the shop, it upgrades and becomes bigger with more stock! There are reqular updates about the town, the next event, shop updates etc on the notice board. And not only cna you interact with the animal residents, you can write them letters, give them presents, celebrate their birthdays, invite… Read more
Micro Scalextric G1017 The Simpsons 1:64 Scale Rac&hellip by Micro Scalextric

We got this last christmas for some cousins (5 year old and 7 year old) and they absolutely adored the set. Surprisingly, it even had all the adults wanting a go on it as well! And just to clarify, this is not just a set that makes the cars go round and round, (i have experienced one of those, very boring.) the scalectrix simpsons set can alter the speed of the cars at your will, making it a matter of jugement how fast to go - too slow and your opponent is way ahead of you on the lap, but too fast and you fly off the track at the bend! Quite honestly, great fun and hours of entertainment.
