This is an absolutely fantastic book. I'm sure the author is probably tired of always being compared to Nick Hornby, but the camparison is fair and would be more accurate if it was described as "imagine if Nick Hornby had written Fever Pitch later in life, after experincing the role of fatherhood." In many ways it bookends Fever Pitch, instead of being the child of a divorce that sees life through footie, it's the father that describes life as a massive footie fan. Of course at least Hornby got to celebrate a few titles that poor Foster's Stoke City never had!
Anyway, you don't have to be a football fan to appreciate this book... but you just might find yourself rooting for Stoke… Read more
