5.0 out of 5 stars a glimpse of heaven, 7 July 2011
The peformance of the fourth concerto is sublime, the piano drifting off to heaven in the first movement.

I regard it as the finest recording of any work ever produced.

4.0 out of 5 stars Famous Overtures, 1 May 2010
For all George Solti fans this is a gem. The description on Amazon highlights Emanuel Brabec incorrectly. He is the principal cellist with the Vienna Philharmonic at the time of the recording of Poet and Peasant Overture.
The recordingds go through the 1950's to the 1980's They are varied generally all with great Decca sound of the classic 1960's Culshaw period. I especially enjoyed the two Beethoven Overtures. Egmont and Leonore 3.
I can easly recommend this CD to anyone as its totally enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars just short of 5 star, 18 Feb 2010
It would be easier to live with, without the exposition repeat.
The sound overall is tremendous as i remember, it as early CD DDD demo disc.
I would not recommend buying this in this format, but get it in the Decca Eclipse series at a quarter of the price with added material.
