I have around 12 G4 downlight spots in my kitchen, all with 10 W halogens - some seem to last forever but others are fried within a few months. I've always been a bit hesitant about swapping them out for LEDs because I thought that the LED light would be rather stark and blueish. The quality of light from this LED bulb is practically indistinguishable from the 10 W halogens, maybe slightly brighter, which is a good thing - I couldn't use 20 W halogens in my fittings without them overheating. I can't judge the longevity yet but I'm definitely going to replace my old halogens with these as they blow. Well worth a try.
