Cupcakes From the Primrose Bakery by Martha Swift
So far I've only tried one recipe - the Vanilla Cupcake and Basic Vanilla Buttercream Icing, but I have been totally pleased with the results. I'd even say they are the best cupcakes I've ever tasted/made! I used freestanding electric food mixer (Kitchenaid) which I really think helped alot as (following the directions to the letter) there is alot of beating, I'd estimate about 20 minutes worth of beating as each ingredient addition required a few minutes worth of beating. This is no bother with a Kitchenaid as I just let the machine do the work while I tidied up. The recipe made 12 HUGE cupcakes! I did cut the cooking time a bit as they looked perfect and golden after 20 minutes - but lets… Read more
Mary Berry's Foolproof Cakes: Step by Step to Ever&hellip by Mary Berry

This book really is a foolproof guide to baking, I've tried making cakes for years with little success - I'd almost given up until I decided to give the undisputed 'Queen of Baking' Mary Berry a go. So far I've made the chocolate brownies, choc-chip cookies and the carrot cake with mascarpone frosting - all with astounding results! So long as you heed Mary's own advice in following the recipies to the letter you really cannot go wrong!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh What An Album, 6 Jun 2006
I'm so glad that I managed to discover this jem of an album. I'd not heard Rufus before but I heard Oh What a World on the radio and thought it was so different - think the Bolero with a pop twist - that I just had to check it out. The rest of the album is just as cool, the only way to describe it is a lush pop operetta, it has everything, violins, cellos, guitars, flutes piano - even a tuba! But surprisingly it all works very well, the vocal arrangements, orchestration and sheer scope of the music are really truly breathtaking, if you like music that's different from the mainstream I'd recommend you give the album ago.
