Like the authors, I got interested in Denby from their modern wares, however this book is a good introduction to the history of the pottery going back to it's founding in 1809 (though Denby themselves claim it is 1806, but celebrated the centennary in 1909).
If you are looking for a book that will tell you exactly what range you have sitting on your shelves, this may not be the one for you, as although the different styles/ranges are briefly described, not all of them are shown in illustrations. What illustrations are included are very well reproduced (many in colour) and also give the size of the largest piece in each case so that you can get an idea of the size of each item. Not… Read more
