I just need to comment on the review written by 'a stranger'. How bizarre to spend time (a deal of time by the look of it) on reading a (long) book) AND writing a (long, long) review about something you and don't like in the first place. It would be like me finding a book about football, buying it, pronouncing it boring, writing a review to say so and dragging the review scores down in a misleading way. Are you worried, 'a stranger', that there are scores of postmodernist haters out there who will inadvertently read a hefty chunk of the postmodern canon unless you warn them off it. I have to say that the previous review doesn't do justice to this text. Rather than 'convoluted' I'd say that it's robust, detailed and well argued. JT takes on the task of incorporating a spectrum of heavyweight literary theory and does a sterling job.

For a change, a book around relationship struggles that does not focus on mending your partner (or you for that matter).

Russ Harris does a good job of relating the ACT process to the issues of stuckness, separation and conflict that couples may face. He incorporates exercises (really worth not skipping) that are quick and straight forward to do. There are exercises that you can do with your partner if they're willing to do them, and I think that they could provide really rich experiences. They're not my partner's thing,which is fine, and I still got a lot out of this book without doing the exercises for couples.
