RJ11 RJ45 LAN Ethernet/ Network/ Port Cable Tester by CDL Micro
4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and effective, 12 Feb 2014
These little gadgets work very well to check out those dodgy cables. I'm sure one could pay a lot more something that does exactly the same thing. My supplier didn't go mad with the packaging but what the hell, it was an economical purchase and did not disappoint. I foolishly expected I would need 2 batteries (none supplied) but of course in use the 2 units are wired together by the cable under test!

These hoods (or shrouds as some call them) certainly do the job. I found them a bit inelegant and not fitting very securely onto the connector. I imagine some silicon sealant might make them a bit more firmly attached. Good value for money though and very satisfactory for an easy DIY job.
Cat6 RJ45 LAN Crimps Ends Connectors TWO PIECE Bag&hellip by kenable™
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and easy, 12 Feb 2014
These 2 piece connecters are simple and easy to use thanks to the pre-loading bar thing-a-me-jig. They are a little expensive for small bits of plastic, but the extra outlay will be repaid in productivity and more first time successful crimps. It's possible to use existing shrouds from old cables, there's a 'punch out' cutout for the projection to latch into. You will see what I mean when you do the job. Always organise the shroud and try it on before you do your crimp (someone will tell me that's obvious- not obvious to everybody though!)
