Twenty Twelve - Series 1 and 2 [DVD] DVD ~ Hugh Bonneville
Twenty Twelve - Series 1 and 2 [DVD] DVD ~ Hugh Bonneville
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 26 Feb 2013
As a prelude to the games in London in 2012 (one can't use certain terminology as the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games get somewhat upset) this observational humour was excellent. With a very good cast, the episodes lead through the background and build up to the games from a fictional perspective but one that is based very much on fact.

Even though the games are over, this DVD should be on bookshelves along with the official games DVDs as a complete record of one marvellous summer in 2012.

Citizen Khan is written in the same vein as other classic humour such as "Fawlty Towers" and "The High Life" in that it observes a particular section of British life. Poking fun at ourselves is a British trait, and one that deservedly embraces all sectors of our multi-ethnic community.

The "Birds and the Bees" scene where Mr Khan attempts unsuccessfully to teach his daughter the facts of life is particularly well observed and deserves to become a classic clip.

I very much look forward to a second series.
