Play Rock Drums (Step One Teach Yourself) by Joel Rothman
Great book for getting started. I was able to play some basic rock drum patterns within an hour of opening the book. The book also helped me with setting up the drums, holding the drum sticks and looking after the kit. Very good value for money and the CD is also a very useful support tool.

I am up to lesson 27 and have found each lesson to be very helpful, easy to follow and not too much to learn in each step.
You can move backwards and forwards through the lessons as you learn at your own pace, which means you can go back a lesson or two if you haven't had a chance to play for a while and go over anything you've forgotten… Read more
