Loved this book...!!! Karen really took us right into her world, with her house, her renovations and most importantly the people she meets.

Fabulous book and my highest recommendations.

As a regulalr user of Mumsnet, and a lover of funny things, I was absolutely thrilled when I saw a Mumsnet thread asking for everyone's favourite funny books. This book came up continually which I saw as a huge recommendation ...after all, my dad worked on the rigs all over the world. my husband works in the oil industry now and I worked in it in the past....what better book to get - highly recommended by like minded people and about a world I know...

But I really just didn't get it....maybe I'm a miserable soul, but I didn't laugh once - I honestly didn't find it either entertaining as a funny book, educational as a travelog, or as a book on the oil industry, or even… Read more

I bought this thinking it would be a witty travel isn't.

It simply not funny, or interesting, or in any way entertaining or informative.

I'm sure that the author finds if a very good recod of this trip that he and his girlfriend took, but its like reading a 14 year old's diary...

We went here, and then we went there. And then we went somewhere else.

No hint of adventure, no in depth explanation of anything. A number of rants about smoking which won't appeal, and indeed will alienate a large amount of the readership. Some randomly thrown aroud insults and bad language.
