5.0 out of 5 stars henry squales arrives., 24 Sep 2012
i love the shabby desperation portrayed in the film epitomised for me by the arrival of henry squales (alistair simm) in the london fog and the sad way mrs viziar says "its very late" and he replies "its always later than we think". this is rising damp territory but done for realism and not laughs. theres a very similar entrance by alec guinness in the ladykillers that i believe was influenced by this scene, sinister shadow donning a trilby seen through the glass panel of the door.more recently in the tv drama "shadow line" the trilby wearing character "gatehouse" makes a similar entrance which im guessing was influenced by these films.
