A good film if you are interested in the subject matter.., 7 May 2013

I quite enjoyed this film. But then I have an interest in East Germany and the experiences of doctors who trained there during the communist era. It captures the isolation and banality of being posted to a dead end rural job for political reasons. And the constant paranoia of knowing that anyone can be spying on you for the authorities. The movie suffers by comparing it to the brilliant "the lives of others" because it lacks the same strong narrative, suspense and fantastic ending. The ending of Barbara is a bit predictable and much less satisfying. I'd reccomend it for the art house cinemaphile especially anyone with an interest in the subject matter.

This software is surprisingly good and very easy to setup. Installed effortlessly on my Windows Vista machine. Followed the default procedure which was to scan the hard drive for all pics, videos and sound files. Took quite a while to complete the scan but when it did, it found loads of stuff. It displays the results by type (GIF, JPEG, MP3, WMV to name but a few) and you are able to preview most of the files to see if they are what you want. Then simply select the file(s) and recover. Easy! Only niggle is that you cant sort the results by size and there are a LOT of files to wade through. I got this Panasonic HDD TV recorder for the TV in the guest room. We have an HD TV but it can't get the HD Freeview channels. A few weeks later we got TiVo with a Virginmedia upgrade for our living room. Perhaps its a bit unfair to compare the two because TiVo does raise the bar. Overall the Panasonic Recorder is nice and has a lot of good features like oodles of space (320 GB), ability to record 2 programmes at once, pause and rewind live TV, and easy to setup. Would have been 5 stars if it came with built in wifi (you have to buy an adapter).
