Thale Amazon Instant Video ~ Jon Sigve Skard

After a first viewing - a lovely film, very strange, celebrating the unusual, the obscure. A film with a heart. I felt that the first part where they were trying to fathom the situation went on a bit too long and a bit samey, but generally this was a breath of fresh air and utterly devoid of the common denominator factors of mainstream film-making and marketing.

More sci-fi than horror actually. Personally, I would have liked more emphasis on the supernatural and mystical, rather than the science fiction, although the sci-fi did bring in a powerful conflict.

Well-acted and intriguing. One to watch again. Very atmospheric and artfully made.

This is an excellent collection of high-quality offbeat humour and satire by largely unknown writers who should clearly be better-known. Yes, it is a somewhat random collection of squibs and pastiches, but all the better for that. A lovely read for fans of quirky humour and off the wall parody. The spoof news articles, interviews and letters etc are a real hoot.

Well, this is a supernatural mystery. Now these need to provide interesting characters, atmosphere, a convincing back story to explain
the apparitions, and a convincing ghost or monster. Fragile scores quite highly on the characters and the atmosphere and is a decent mystery for a long time. No classic but quite good. Where it falls down is - as so often in this genre - at the end, at the denoument, when the ghost is quite ludicrous (the child would have been more scary) and the whole thing becomes unconvincing. I was disappointed at the end but enjoyed the ride up to then.
