I have a great love of fantasy and science fiction and grew up watching Star Trek and reading Asimov. I find inspiration in everything, but I'm mostly drawn to the worlds of fantasy.

I don't think I've ever felt for a character as much as I felt for Esther; whose whole life has been plagued by violence, oppression and grim visions of the future. She becomes a priestess in hopes of doing something good for her harsh world, though it has treated her badly because of her peasant background. But instead of crushing her, it has made her stronger.

Her special gift as a seer is both a blessing and a curse; and there are those who would use it for their own benefits, benefits that threaten to break young Esther's spirit. I loved this! It had great adventure, and a wonderful mix of old folklore and new-age horror/sci-fi. And I didn't use to be scared of bats...
