Banjo for Dummies by Bill Evans

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Good beginners guide. The book, written by an experienced tutor, is divided into concise chapters that takes you through the early stages of starting to play the banjo, including advice on the basic construction and nature of the instrument, differences between types, purchasing advice and suggestions on care. Those covering the basics of playing are clearly set out, allow progress at a sensible pace, and have enough suggestions available that you can identify errors reasonably easily. 4.0 out of 5 stars One from my childhood, 19 May 2014
I remember having this when I was at school, so glad to find a 2nd hand copy. Not the best in the series (the Lamborghini Countach & Lotus Esprit Turbo edge it) but not a bad design history, & a classic bit of late 1980s / early 1990s coffee-table motoring book. Well printed, reasonable amount of information, some interesting pictures. War and Peace it is not, nor does it pretend to be, but nice to have.
Sofa Noodling ~ Ralph McTell
Sofa Noodling ~ Ralph McTell
It's Ralph McTell. Playing his guitar. Mostly recorded on a sofa. Really, what's not to like? McTell is one of the greatest British folk artists, and a superb guitarist, so it's a gift to have an entire instrumental album of this. Always relaxed, always with a touch of good humour, varied material and techniques, played with apparent effortlessness. Very easy to listen to for long periods. What's not to like?
