All the clients I meet nowadays talk about business rules, but few seem to really know what they are and when and how to use them. This book makes it all clear - not least that the clients should be talking what decisions they need to make and 'decision services' before they start worrying about the actual business rules. It outlines a method that gets the process off to the right start - understanding the requirements - and then acts as a clear guide through the rest of the lifecycle though delivery and into maintenance.

Watching Ian Carmichael as Lord Peter back in the early seventies was one of the high points of television in my youth, and it was delightful to be able to watch again as I edge out of middle age into my dotage.

Sayer's detective stories combined excellent writing, clever plots and likeable characters. While purists can object that Carmichael was too old for the role, he plays the part well. The cast, costumes, props and settings all evoke the sprit of the stories and the age. The adaptations clearly needed to cut some of the original material, but remain remarkably faithful to the detail as well as the spirit of the original.
