I bought these for my daughter and then liked them so much I bought another pair for myself. They're by far the most stylish wellies I've ever owned. Much nicer than a logo-heavy pair of Hunters. They also feel lovely - slightly softer than most rubber boots. They looked a bit fabricky in the photo so I was worried about how waterproof and wipeable they might be, but they turn out to be as functional as they are beautiful. Very recommended.

This book is full of stories and as gripping as a good novel. It offers really subtle and tolerant ways of thinking about madness. When a good friend of mine had a psychotic episode I was quite shocked by the way she was treated by her doctors. She is now heavily drugged and barely able to have a conversation. This book offers an alternative approach to treatment that preserves the humanity of the patient. It ought to be made compulsory reading for all trainee psychiatrists. And it's a great read for the interested bystander too.

One of the book's central ideas is that medical practitioners need to take human complexity into account when making diagnoses and offering treatment. Having read it shortly after its release, it was interesting to see how it was represented in the media. Clearly these are ideas that some people find quite… Read more
