5.0 out of 5 stars Really rather good, 23 Jun 2013
It really is really rather really good.

An excellent balance between action and exploration, with a constant background tension.

Very strong storyline, great "acting" and expression, subtlety and underplayed emotion.

Superb graphics, pretty much as good as it will get for PS3, although personally I could do with a bit more gore and dismemberment, but then I'm a sadist.

Simple controls, easy to get to grips with and intelligent camera angles make battles and fights intuitive.

Lasts a decent amount of time, I was pleasantly surprised with the game length, usually tense exciting, plot driven games are very short but this one just kept on… Read more

This book is typical of the series, I have reviewed a few of them, and it is my own stupid fault for continuing because I clearly don't enjoy Erikson's style. Reading all ten books turned into a point of principle rather than pleasure.

Every book, every chapter, every page, every character has to stop and internalise their every emotion across paragraph after paragraph. If they're not moodily stomping about considering the futility of life or the sorrow of war then they are falling to their knees with shock… Read more

I've never been a massive fan of Tomb Raider, I've always found them very clunky (hit the jump to the exact pixel or fall to your death). This game can be pretty much described as an Uncharted/Assassins Creed hybrid, the style/graphics are identical to Uncharted 3 and the fluid motion/free-running lifted from AC.

It's a fun game to play, but pretty mindless. I'm about 70% through so far and have only died from mistimed jumps. The shootouts are very easy and require no tactics other than hide and shoot, there's no weapon modification that actually feels like it alters the game. Puzzles take about 30 seconds of observation to figure out, and are far too infrequent. The treasure… Read more
