Giuseppe Tornatore is perhaps the most underrated director of our time. Famous for Cinema Paradiso, an all-time movie classic which is a must-see for anyone who pretends to love cinema, he subsequently directed Stanno tutti bene, The legend of 1900 and Malena. Of these, The legend of 1900 is doubtless the finest piece of work. It's Tornatore's only foray into Hollywood, and despite that a great success. No-one's heard of it - but you should watch it. It's clever, moving, with an out of character but brilliant soundtrack by Ennio Moricone. Enjoy, enjoy...
