On Christmas Day ~ Cambridge King's College Choir
On Christmas Day ~ Cambridge King's College Choir
This is a good day to write a review of this album, as Kings College prepare once more to give us Nine Lessons and Carols, one carol of which will be a commissioned piece receiving its first performance within this celebration.

5.0 out of 5 stars good stuff, 12 Dec 2013
Excellent recording and performance of this underexposed composer. This recording does indeed show off some very fine aspects of french organ composition and is a pleasure to listen to. The organ used seems entirely appropriate for the work of Duruflé; another great find from Naxos . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality choral work, 12 Dec 2013
This is an excellent recording of Duruflé's choral output. Can there really be no more, hidden away in a library somewhere? Beautifully sung here by a choir that I have come to really enjoy. St John's is less 'echoey' than Kings (for example) and under Christopher Robinson the choir avoids the slightly fruitier tones of Kings and some other college choirs. Farrington is as ever, masterful at the organ. I think this recording does real justice to the work of this under exposed composer . . .
