I rarely give up halfway through a book, but nearly did with this one. It's basically a long series of descriptions of fights, often in a confusing order, and they do all blend together after a while.
I'd have liked to learn more about other areas of Bartley's life - family, beliefs etc - and although they did crop up intermittently in the book, for me they didn't come through strongly enough.
