Codex Born (Magic Ex Libris 2) by Jim C. Hines
I don't want to get into any spoilers, but the cliff hanger ending of this book near had me yelling at the laptop screen at 2am as I tried to find out about part three of the series. Book 2 builds on the premises set down in book 1, as well as giving more back story to Lena. It's not a book I'd recommend to younger readers, given the more adult nature of some scenes, but the two books so far are very much worth a read.
Interesting Times: (Discworld Novel 17) (Discworld&hellip by Terry Pratchett
That was nearly twenty years ago and in my opinion they only get better the more I read them. Like any Pratchett book it is both stand alone and part of a string, and also in my opinion it's the best place to start with the Rincewind novels, although Sorcery is not a bad place to start either. Definitely well worth a read.

Powered through this in about an hour, but what an hour! The descriptions are fantastic to the point of eeriness in some cases, the characters are brilliant and the ending totally took me by surprise. Love it!
