Death And The Penguin (Panther) by Andrey Kurkov
5.0 out of 5 stars A good read, 28 Jan 2014
Crime thriller's aren't generally the type of books I would read, but I was turned onto Death and the Penguin by the staff recommendation table in my local bookshop, where many books I had already read and enjoyed were also recommended.
I found it quirky, thought provoking and addictive reading. I aren't a literary type, I mean I haven't studied or joined a book club, I just like a good read and Kurkov ticks all the boxes here.
Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography by Mike Tyson

3.0 out of 5 stars lacks punch, 27 Jan 2014
LIke Mike Tyson's boxing matches, the opening to this bio was explosive, brutal and exciting. Tyson's early life growing up in Brooklyn, his family, meeting mentor Cus D'Amato and his boxing career I found great reading and was loathe to put the book down. My enthusiasm diminished in the later stages with too many tales of drug-fueled orgies and public brawling. It seemed to be tale after tale of him getting high, bedding strippers and being ripped off
There was some redemption in the final few pages, but on the whole I wasn't knocked out
