The Ciao Bella Book of Gelato & Sorbetto: Bold, Fr&hellip by F W Pearce

After the DH bought me an ice-cream maker, I started hunting for a good gelato book. A friend loaned me her Ben & Jerry's book, but I'm not a big fan of most American style ice-creams (too creamy!), and besides I prefer gelati, so that one was out.

Here's what you want to know:
1. Measurements are made in cups and teaspoons and Farenheit - because it's an American book. But come on, it just takes 20 seconds to google metric equivalents online...takes much longer to rant about it imo.
I have found that using the recipes I'd get about 1.2-1.3L of gelato (I think the book says each batch makes a quart, which is just under 1L, but I haven't found that to be the case), which… Read more

The 150 Best Slow Cooker Recipes by Judith Finlayson
3.0 out of 5 stars Nice recipes, but..., 13 Mar 2012

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the beginner!, 18 July 2011
As a novice orchid-lover, the first book I bought was one of the Ritterhausen introductory books, but while it had more orchid varieties in their book, I found specific information on each species rather scanty.

Thank goodness I found this book not long after!

I especially found these chapters highly informative with good accompanying pictures:
- lighting
- temperature (although my copy had american temps, it was easy to have it translated to centigrade)
- how to repot the various orchid types
- recognizing diseases and pests

The 'Gallery' is also helpful in helping you select the kind(s) of orchid(s) most likely to thrive in your… Read more
