After the DH bought me an ice-cream maker, I started hunting for a good gelato book. A friend loaned me her Ben & Jerry's book, but I'm not a big fan of most American style ice-creams (too creamy!), and besides I prefer gelati, so that one was out.
Here's what you want to know:
1. Measurements are made in cups and teaspoons and Farenheit - because it's an American book. But come on, it just takes 20 seconds to google metric equivalents online...takes much longer to rant about it imo.

A friend insisted that I borrow this book and try it out since she had no time to fiddle with her own slow cooker. So far I have tried a few of the dishes, and they were perfectly ok.
The book itself is very well thought out; it is divided into sections eg beef/ chicken etc, and at the start of every chapter there is a list of recipes -these are also indexed at the back of the book. There are large single-page pictures of the dishes, if you find that sort of thing helpful. The author gives lots of helpful cooking tips and suggests substitute ingredients for some of the recipes.

As a novice orchid-lover, the first book I bought was one of the Ritterhausen introductory books, but while it had more orchid varieties in their book, I found specific information on each species rather scanty.
Thank goodness I found this book not long after!
I especially found these chapters highly informative with good accompanying pictures:
- temperature (although my copy had american temps, it was easy to have it translated to centigrade)
- how to repot the various orchid types
- recognizing diseases and pests
