David Starkey: The David Starkey Collection [DVD] DVD ~ Steven Clarke
A series of documentaries that cover the history of the British/English monarchy from around the 6th century when the Anglo-Saxons inhabited Great Britain and runs all the way up until our current monarch, Elizabeth II. There are also discs focusing on Henry VIII's wives and the life of Elizabeth I. Both provide exceptional insight into those topics.

I'm not sure I've seen anyone I would rather teach me about history than David Starkey. His infectious passion and enthusiasm for the subject reverberate throughout, and he narrates over some lovely footage of idyllic locations including castles, abbeys, cathedrals etc.

This is a must-buy for anyone interested in British… Read more

Planet Earth - Special Edition [Blu-ray] Blu-ray ~ David Attenborough
Put simply, this is something everyone should have the opportunity to experience. The brilliant Sir David Attenborough narrates perfectly over stunning images of some of the most beautiful places and creatures on our planet. He always seems to know exactly when the viewer wants some extra information about what we're witnessing, and when to just say nothing and let the images speak for themselves.

How they managed to film some of the shots I will never know, but I can appreciate that it must have cost a lot of money to do so. All I can say about that is that it was money well spent. Bravo to the BBC and everybody involved.

JPRGs really don't come any better than this. We're in an age of gaming where shooters are in vogue and JRPGs aren't so popular, and where you can pay 40/50 for a new game with a 10 hour campaign, so games like these need to be treasured. The stories run to roughly 50-60 hours each for a first time playthrough and there's over 100 hours gameplay on each if you're a completionist.

If you've not played these games and… Read more
