This book is an antidote to the way of being of the Western world, which has come to seem normal, but which is definitely not ideal. It gives a message of our deep and intricate connectedness: to ourselves, to others and to our environment, even though it certainly does seem that we are afflicted by alienation. It intelligently makes a case for re-enchanting the world with such old-fashioned concepts as love and trust. If you are the kind of person who ponders deep questions and longs for a different way of human relating, this is a must read. However, it is a fairly demanding work, probably aimed at a well-educated academic audience, but it is worth the effort.
