Writing as a buyer who has only read this book and not yet attempted to enter into proofreading as a profession, I can't comment on the accuracy of Critchley's guidance for finding work in this field. However, I found the book a very useful read in terms of acquainting me with the realities of professional proofreading and as an introduction to the basics of the job. I also wasn't expecting such an extensive section of the book dealing with spelling, punctuation and grammar, which was a welcome surprise.
