Voyage to Agatis [DVD] [2010] [US Import] DVD ~ Thomas Goersch
Another tale of unpleasantness from German shock director Marian Dora. His movies are very much not for the easily offended and tend to feature jaw-droppingly offensive content, and this one was no different.

Right from the get-go we see a naked woman running for her life and killed in brutal fashion by her pursuer. Killer cats are on the prowl after they start to develop a taste for you human flesh as a failing kitty food company decides to top up their tins with exhumed dead bodies!

Low budget and amateurly handled, but somewhat fun and amusing. It's pretty mild on shock value though, even for its day back in '71. Its very light on gore, bar one scene of a cat autopsy. There's no graphic close ups of bodies being grinded and minced as the cover art and title might suggest. So don't expect any Herschell Gordon Lewis type antics here! The 18 rating is misleading also, the film could easily pass for a 12 rating. The cat attacks lack suspense and are clumsily handled and they actually resemble… Read more

From the producers of Julia's Eyes and The Orphanage but it doesn't come close to matching their quality, it's a completely different film though and it's just another rather forgettable addition to the recent trend of 3D horror. Despite the word "Paranormal" in its title there's little in the way of ghostly scares, so don't expect another 'Paranormal Activity' or any of its numerous imitators. Once it gets going around halfway through It's more of a supernatural slasher as a bunch of Spanish students travel to an old abandoned mining town to investigate whether the presence of a sadistic torturer still lurks. After a rather slow build up, where the plot and the inevitable… Read more
