Harumika Style Starter Set - Wild One by Bandai

This toy gave a lot of pleasure to my daughter at Christmas and the following days, and she enjoys playing with it when on her own. It is worth saving a few scraps of fabric as not many are provided with the kit - it is easy to make your own additional outfits with ribbon etc. May be worth buying the slightly more expensive kit with a few more items.
Dad Stuff: Shedloads of Ideas for Dads by Steve Caplin
Not only does my husband love this book, but my neighbours love it too and think it is the essential guide for parents who have to answer at least ten questions (how many stars are there in the sky? Where do babies come from? Why is the sky blue?) on the way to school each day! Fun to read AND very useful. Recommended for all dads of small kids.
Powers (Annals of the Western Shore) by Ursula K. Le Guin
Urusula le Guin's Annals of the Western Shore have drawn me in yet again to her fabulous story telling, teaching truths along the way. These three books make me feel like I am getting to know the history of a people and living it with them.

They are not really children's book, though children and young adults will enjoy them. I feel adults are likely to appreciate her wonderful style, full of ease and elegance, and well as the universal themes in them. Having said that - my kids will love reading these in a few years.
