The Poppy Factory by Liz Trenow
The Poppy Factory by Liz Trenow
This is the best yet from Liz Trenow. I loved how the modern and historical stories intertwined and of course her page-turning style. Just like the others The Poppy Factory is full of twists and turns and a real tear-jerker but it seems that Liz Trenow's writing only gets better, these characters are even more engaging than her others and her style has become even more sophisticated. There was great attention to detail, from the sights and sounds of the war in Afghanistan to Rose's trials after her husband returns from war. Rose is also my favourite character yet. A diary style is hard to do, but Liz Trenow does it well and it made me feel very close to the characters. Great read.

I thought it would be hard for Liz to beat her debut novel - The Last Telegram - based on her family's silk factor during WWII, but I was wrong! The Forgotten Seamstress is just as much of a page turner and even more difficult to put down. I loved the atmospheric descriptions of the old cottage outside 'Eastchester' and the mental asylum where her heroine is based. I ended up loving Caroline - the modern day character and rooting for her and the sexy journo to get together. But the real star of the book is Maria. Yet again, Liz Trenow's historical character is full of depth and complexity. Maria is cheeky, brave and loveable and stayed with me for ages after finishing the book.

Beurer PM25 Award Winning Heart Rate Monitor Watch by Beurer
5.0 out of 5 stars Great first monitor, 14 Oct 2013
This was my first and it's been great. The reviews are right - the setting up menu is a little complicated and sometimes it can take a while to get a signal but it always works and has had few glitches. I really like this monitor and would recommend it, though I don't use any of the other functions other than monitoring my heart rate over my run.
