Les sanglots longs des violons... : Avoir dix-huit&hellip by Violette Jacquet-Silberstein
5.0 out of 5 stars Music saves, 18 Mar 2014
The story of the women 's orchestra in Auschwitz is told here with a a young audience in mind . A young French jewish girl 's life is saved by being a member of that orchestra. The narrative and the illustrations help emphasize important issues about the deportation and concentration camps . The value of music in this horrific surroundings is discussed with insight. The personal photographs in the end and the historical fact section about the final solution make the book an important tool in reaching the readers hearts and mind.
