The haiku are expressive and honest. Following the writer through 2009 was a rewarding and inspiring read. It led me in one of my dark times to start my own haiku diary blog. What is delightful about this collection is the enduring quality, when I reread the haiku I am still moved and captivated by certain feelings that they arouse.

I found the writing style unengaging. The story felt precious without offering much in the way of philosophical or spiritual impact. Such things are better sought in dedicated daoist or Buddhist texts. The short chapters at least made it possible to finish the book eventhough I had lost interest at the halfway point.

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure, 22 Dec 2012
This collections demonstrates a mastery of the short story form. The subject matter is wide and the variety of techniques in the telling very impressive. Matters of the heart are captured and treasured by the narrator. I relaxed into this book confident that I would be both entertained and considered. Not relentlessly shocking and dark as much of the genre can be nor sugary sweet but rather straight and honest depictions of the depths of our feelings when faced with the everyday.
