I first heard Norah Jones on the Charlie Hunter Bands "Songs from the Analogue Playground". On the strength of that I bought "Come away with me", which I was a bit disappointed with as I had expected something with a greater jazz influence. All of this was before the phenomenal success of that album.
"New York City" delivers what I first heard in Norahs voice - the sweet optimism of youth coupled with the grainy tones of experience. To me "New York City" typifies that musical area where Country, Rock and Blues merge. In short, great American music.
