Firstly, I'd like to make it clear that this is not your everyday alien film, as I am sure that some people may expect it to lack originality. In actual fact, though, I'm not sure that I can even pick similarities between this and any other film; District 9 sparkles with originality throughout.
The film begins in a documentary style format, with interview clips from various characters. These first few minutes explain how an alien craft appeared over Johannesburg with thousands of alien life forms starving inside.
