2.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, 3 May 2006
I absolutely detest not finishing a book, and it is a very rare occurrence (the last time was the Lord of the Rings trilogy in 1995, and in that case, I at least finished the first book, and chose not to read the other two), but this book drove me to it.

I've read many accounts of life in WW1, including fictional depictions like Birdsong (Sebastian Faulkes) and dramatised real-life accounts such as All Quiet on the Western Front (Erich Remarque). Although both of these books were fascinating, and included gritty accounts of experiences as well as an insight into the psychological condition of those involved - such as Remarque's detailed retelling of the time he spent trapped in… Read more

I had managed to hide under a rock for the first two series, so when I saw 24 Season 3 advertised on sky 1, I thought I'd give it a try; the first few episodes were very good, but it really ramped up fast. By the 7th or 8th episode, I was uttterly addicted, and was forced to purchased sky and a video recorded for my second home, as I could no longer wait until the Saturday night repeat to watch it at home! I also purchased the first two series, which were excellent, but nothing compared to series three.

Last night was the final episode, and continued the mindblowing theme to an ultimate climax - episodes 15-20 were edge-of-the seat teretory, but for the last four, I was off the seat and… Read more

This is a fantastic book if you're the kind of person who can pick up abook, and read for two days solid. If you're not, then you may struggle. Ihave an hour commute on the train to and from London each day, so read afair bit. Prior to this, I had read most of the Clancy and a few of theGrisham books, among others.
With Clancy and Grisham, the pace is fairly steady, however with theBourne trilogy, expect much more of a rollercoaster; you can find yourselfreading for three days before reaching an exciting bit. Don't get me wrongthough the exciting bits really are fantastic when they come along.
Another thing to bear in mind is that the book is big - it's about 9"tall, 5" wide and… Read more
