The way in which we use power seems to have shifted from a few high consumption appliances to many more low consumption devices but even new buildings don't seem to take account of this fact - that's where this Masterplug 6 (unswitched) socket extension lead comes in. This lead sports an anti-surge device with an indicator to show it's active plus another to confirm the power is on. The cable is 2m long and is fitted with a 13 amp fused plug - you just have to remain conscious of the fact that the total loading mustn't exceed 13 amps. Also, remember that a few devices such as mains network setups/broadband extenders etc. often don't work properly with extension leads.

Our household has a strategy of moving entirely to rechargeable batteries now that the technology has come of age. These Panasonic Infinium batteries represent a good balance between cost and power output. We prefer to buy Panasonic or other "big names" in rechargeable batteries because of the safety considerations. These Panasonic AAA cells have an output of 800 mAh.

On delivery I found these pre-charged batteries had around a 90% charge and my advice is to use them and run them down before putting them into your charger - they are designed with that in mind. These batteries charge quickly although the rate depends on the charger you use - you can get Panasonic's own models… Read more
