Those who have been taught and practiced tithing will not initially like this book. Stuart Murray starts by asserting that Christian tithing is unbiblical and gives many criticisms of it from experience and history. But if you sincerely want to re-examine your practice then I would encourage you to read Beyond Tithing. Murray gives us an informative history lesson that looks at how tithing has been practiced by the Church, how and when it originated, and how it has been received. More importantly he gives a thorough biblical overview of the subject.

This is not a book to sit and read; this is a practical book of activities to use and adapt. This book has 64 ideas for activities - to use in prayer - which fan out into many variations. All these ideas have tried and tested by Sue Wallace and others co-ordinating an alternative worship gathering called Visions in York. Most of the ideas are borrowed from across Christian traditions but Sue Wallace and the people at Visions have put their own slant on them.
